Some may think that Patriot Academy is only for those who aspire to serve God in government or for those who are great speakers and debaters. The truth is that Patriot Academy is for everyone.
Our nation’s heritage and the efforts to preserve it depend on all of us, regardless of where we are called to serve. We know from Ephesians 2:10 that God has ordained us and has a specific purpose for each one of us. No two human beings are identical – and that’s no accident. We have been created as unique beings to carry out a specific plan on this earth.
Discovering our calling is one of the most important things we will do in our lives. Unfortunately, most people go through life never fulfilling their God-appointed calling.
The world paints a picture of the “steps for success”. We see that our neighbor is a successful stock broker (or attorney, business owner, etc.) and assume that we have to replicate their actions to be successful as well. The reality is that our success relies on finding out why we were created and the plan our Creator has for us.
Consider the story of the boy whose father asks him to fetch a tool from the barn. Reluctant, the boy asks, “But Dad, it’s dark in there. How am I supposed to find what I’m looking for?”
The father replies, “Well, take this lantern.”
Once again the boy replies, “But that lantern will not light up the whole barn.”
In an assuring voice the father answers, “Don’t worry about that, just make sure you shine the light on your next step and you’ll be ok.”
We don’t need to know everything about what our purpose in life is. As long as we know what our next step is, we will be ok!
Your next step is attending Patriot Academy. I can wholeheartedly say that nothing in my life has given me a clearer direction for my life than Patriot Academy – and I am not the only alum that feels this way.
The Lord may have called you into government and your Patriot Academy experience will definitely shine some light on your next steps. A question that helped me find my purpose was: What would you try if you couldn’t fail? Perhaps create a new medicine? Or be the governor of your state? How about starting a youth ministry?
The answer to that question helped me identify what I was truly passionate about. Then, little by little, I began to see how I could serve God in my area of interest. Even if government is not your area of ministry, Patriot Academy will show you how to carry out your civic duties, which we are all called to do.
Most importantly, don’t lose your patience searching for what God’s purpose for your life is. Trust more in His ability and willingness to show you His will for your life than your own ability to find it.
