Ok folks, prepare for the next round of liberal progressive socialist protests aimed at the Trump administration.
As reported by Reuters, “The Trump administration wants to revamp and rename a U.S. government program designed to counter all violent ideologies so that it focuses solely on Islamist extremism, five people briefed on the matter told Reuters. The program, “Countering Violent Extremism,” or CVE, would be changed to “Countering Islamic Extremism” or “Countering Radical Islamic Extremism,” the sources said, and would no longer target groups such as white supremacists who have also carried out bombings and shootings in the United States.
Such a change would reflect Trump’s election campaign rhetoric and criticism of former President Barack Obama for being weak in the fight against Islamic State and for refusing to use the phrase “radical Islam” in describing it.
Islamic State has claimed responsibility for attacks on civilians in several countries. The CVE program aims to deter groups or potential lone attackers through community partnerships and educational programs or counter-messaging campaigns in cooperation with companies such as Google and Facebook.
Some proponents of the program fear that rebranding it could make it more difficult for the government to work with Muslims already hesitant to trust the new administration, particularly after Trump issued an executive order last Friday temporarily blocking travel to the United States from seven predominantly Muslim countries.
Some Republicans in Congress have long assailed the program as politically correct and ineffective, asserting that singling out and using the term “radical Islam” as the trigger for many violent attacks would help focus deterrence efforts. Others counter that branding the problem as “radical Islam” would only serve to alienate more than three million Americans who practice Islam peacefully.
Many community groups, meanwhile, had already been cautious about the program, partly over concerns that it could double as a surveillance tool for law enforcement. Hoda Hawa, director of policy for the Muslim Public Affairs Council, said she was told last week by people within DHS that there was a push to refocus the CVE effort from tackling all violent ideology to only Islamist extremism.”That is concerning for us because they are targeting a faith group and casting it under a net of suspicion,” she said.”
First of all, let’s talk about the “extremism” that was evidenced recently at the University of California-Berkeley. Can any of you imagine what would happen if say, a far left socialist Senator was invited to speak at a conservative Christian university, and students responded such as what we saw at Berkeley?
Oh yeah, it happened, just last year when US Senator Bernie Sanders spoke at the world’s largest Christian university, Liberty University. He wasn’t heckled; there were no protests.
I can personally attest to what happens when a conservative goes to a college campus to speak on issues. As a matter of fact, y’all know what happened at St. Louis University when I was to speak on radical Islam. I prefer the term militant.
The left, and especially in the Obama administration, went to great lengths to dismiss the evident terrorist threat, and classify their political opposition as “extremists.” And any of you progressive socialist detractors who wish to disagree, be careful, we can provide countless videos of Democrats referring to constitutional conservatives as “extremists,” or having “extreme” views…or making comparisons to terrorists.
This is why the whole CVE, Combatting Violent Extremism, was a leftist dog whistle to shut down opposing ideologies. This nation has always combatted domestic groups that threaten our values — that’s done through established law enforcement agencies and procedures. However, if you peruse left wing media sites, they’re already castigating President Trump as going soft on racist groups — neo-Nazis — and those the left has looped into a new category — “Alt-Right.” So, if that’s the case, how does one classify those perpetrators — ok, domestic terrorists —whose actions played out in Washington DC on Inauguration Day, and at UC-Berkeley?
I concur with the Trump administration, because we don’t need a new government program that duplicates efforts we already have established in the FBI or other law enforcement agencies. We need to focus on the enemy and its ideology, and that is Islamic jihadism, manifesting itself in terrorism.
Words have meaning and the use of the word “extremism” by the left was a big net catch all to fit THEIR own ideological intent. The left will use the case of the lone heinous action of the shooting in the church in Charleston South Carolina as necessary proof. The singular crime of that one individual has been rectified, he was charged, tried, convicted, and sentenced — to death.
Doggone, we can’t even put to death Nidal Hasan or Khalid Sheik Muhammad, and we know exactly their crimes. Our scant resources must be focused, targeted and based on trend analysis to seek out and proactively reduce the real threat to our Republic. And not be leveraged as a tool for political witch hunts in order to, as Barack Obama once stated, “punish your enemies” when he spoke at a campaign rally in 2012.
We need Google and Facebook to restrict the ability and access of these Islamic jihadists to promulgate their venomous savagery and propaganda. We need to identify the resource streams and cut them off — heck, confiscate these monetary assets and use for our debt reduction. And regardless of what Hoda Hawa states, this has nothing to do with targeting a faith group, unless you’re a Christian living in a majority Muslim nation…funny, that wasn’t mentioned at all. Groups such as CAIR, MAS, MPAC, ISNA, and others…with Muslim Brotherhood associations and affiliations, need to understand that America will no longer be bullied into a politically correct silence. That state existed in order for these slick, suit-wearing “stealth jihadists” to set the conditions for undermining our system of governance, enabling them to pursue their stated goals and objectives, as outlined in the Muslim Brotherhood 1991 Explanatory Memorandum written by Mohammed Akram.
So, look for more protests and empty rhetoric from the left about this change in name for this program. The name change was necessary in order to focus on what the real issue and threat is for America. It’s not climate change or conservative policy. The real threat emanates from violent — and nonviolent — Islamic jihadism, and we need to combat it…forthright.
