If you live in a city, chances are the water you drink everyday comes from some sort of city water supply. Now, while you may never give this a second thought, someone is paid to keep a careful eye on the source of your water supply, to make sure that all the equipment operates as it should, etc. Now imagine if this person began ignoring that duty and the source of the city’s water was completely ignored. It wouldn’t take long for there to be major problems.
In life it is vital to pay attention to the source of things we value. As Americans, freedom is one of those things we should value. But in order to maintain that freedom, we must pay attention to its source.
Thomas Jefferson said, “God who gave us life gave us liberty. Can the liberties of a nation be secure when we have removed a conviction that these liberties are the gift of God? Indeed I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just, that his justice cannot sleep forever.”
Liberty cannot remain in a society that has forgotten the Source.
