Every year, hundreds of leaders receive training from Patriot Academy. And every year that number is increasing! Through email updates, our social media, and the Patriot Press, we work to keep you informed about the impact that supporters like you are having through Patriot Academy’s work.
It’s one thing for us to tell you about the impact Patriot Academy is having, and the difference it is making in the hearts and lives of America’s leaders, but it’s another thing for us to show you.
And what better way than through the testimony of the students themselves.
What first got you interested in Patriot Academy?
I was interested in gaining an understanding of the legislative process and Patriot Academy was a perfect fit!
Was the experience what you had expected? Why or why not?
Absolutely! I learned so much during my first year. I was excited to use what I had learned in Austin over the next year in local politics.
Has Patriot Academy changed the direction where you see your life heading?
Yes. I’m much more informed, more articulate, more assertive, and ready to get out of my comfort zone.
What particular skills did Patriot Academy teach you that you are using today?
Patriot Academy has seriously upped my communication skills/rapport game. The Leader’s Edge (Rick Green’s communication program) has helped me immensely, especially in the area of rapport, which I heavily rely on when words don’t come easy.
I’ve found being able to be on the same emotional connection with people usually helps to make them more receptive. It also serves to make me more confident in communicating and allows me to get my message across more effectively.
What opportunities and/or connections came as a result of Patriot Academy?
Because of Patriot Academy, I have had offers for an RNC job, Nueces County/San Patricio County chair positions, and precinct chair as well. Patriot Academy inspired, motivated and equipped me to volunteer for multiple local campaigns.
What was the most important thing you learned at Patriot Academy?
It’s a recurring theme each year, but it hit home especially this year – God is looking for leaders in these last days. I am reminded of Samuel in the Bible, and how he tried to use his sons to help bring about Israel’s turning to God. Instead his tons turned after “filthy lucre.” He tried to use Saul as well, but Saul eventually failed to obey God’s commandments. He tried to use himself in that he pleaded with the nation to repent, but in vain.
Yet he anointed David, and though the Bible does not record any further interaction between the two, David was known as one of Israel’s greatest kings, but most importantly as a man after God’s own heart. It’s inspiring, renews my faith and hope each time, and makes me look forward to being used of God in my future in whatever role He so chooses.
