So just the other day, Donald Trump was “speaking his truth”, and for some unknown reason, the mainstream media pounced on him, ripping him up and down, decrying his hateful, vile, racist evilness, and once again pointing to the 25th Amendment as our last and only hope.
Now, this may seem like just another day in the neighborhood, however, something happened last Sunday that, according to the Left and the mainstream media (but I repeat myself), was supposed to have shifted the foundation of the world itself.
Oprah Winfrey gave her first speech in her bid for the presidency.
Or at least, that’s how Winfrey’s award acceptance speech at the Golden Globes was reported on. In that speech, Winfrey said, “…what I know for sure is that speaking your truth is the most powerful tool we all have.”
The Left and the mainstream media lauded this speech. The adulation was endless. They loved the encouragement to “speak your truth” no matter what, don’t let anyone silence you.
Unless you disagree with them. In that case, just shut up.
Trump’s Truth
The most recent comment from President Trump that has many up in arms is the reported instance where Trump referred to Haiti and some African countries as less than desirable locations.
The vitriolic response leaves one wondering, “Were they serious when they said everyone should speak “their truth”?
A few facts about Haiti (from factretreiver.com):
While the President’s reported choice of words should have been more diplomatic, it certainly appears fitting. Many have tried to spin this as a demonstration of Trump’s “racist heart”. However, they are the one’s making this a race issue.
The fact is, it doesn’t matter what color of skin individuals have in these countries, they’re not very nice places to live. Especially when compared to the opulence Americans take for granted everyday.
The media does not want to hear Trump speak “his truth” regarding America’s superiority over other nations because it doesn’t line up with “their truth”. And here we find the fundamental problem with their worldview.
The Danger of “Your Truth”
Oprah’s advice to “speak your truth” is possibly one of the most dangerous pieces of advice ever spoken. The reason being – there is no “my truth” and “your truth”. There is only THE TRUTH. It does not change, it does not care who is in office, it does not care what current societal trends are, Truth remains the same. Otherwise it wouldn’t be truth, now would it?
However, when you’re a media outlet, or a political party, that is trying to convince the world that things are not what they are, that way of thinking just won’t work.
There are those who want us to believe that a man can simply say he’s a woman and make it so, that socialism is a viable economic system that doesn’t lead to tyranny, that keeping more of your own money is a bad thing, that the world is near destruction due to man-made global warming, that America is not exceptional.
These things are all obviously, blatantly false. Yet they sincerely want them to be true. But they’re not. So what is there to do but live in a fantasy world where “your truth” and “my truth” have validity?
Imagine, Bob looks out the window and see that it is snowing. Bob wants it to be sunny and warm so he can lay in the grass get a tan. However, it’s snowing so that is impossible. You tell Bob these truths. However, Bob blows you off, deriding you for not allowing him to “speak his own truth”.
The problem here is that “their truth” is in conflict, nay direction opposition, to the TRUTH.
We would all do well to examine our opinions in light of real truth. What beliefs and opinions line up with the facts? Which ones don’t line up? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below.
In the meantime, keep speaking THE TRUTH. Because,
