Here I am out to sea, and the Democrats are demonstrating they’re out to lunch. Sadly, because I’m here on the Media Research Center cruise, I won’t be watching the DNC Chairman debate from my hometown of Atlanta, Georgia.
However, I did have the opportunity to read an op-ed in the New York Times titled “Move left Democrats.” Hence this is why I say the Democrats are out to lunch. If this Party believes the lesson to be learned from their defeat, not just last November, but in so many house, senate, gubernatorial, and state legislature races is to move more left…have at it chuckleheads.
As reported by Breitbart.com, “Democratic candidates will take the stage at the CNN Center in Atlanta on Wednesday night to make a final appeal as to why they should become the next Democratic National Committee chair.
CNN said the debate will focus on the candidates’ “strategies for the 2018 midterm elections, rebuilding the Democratic Party and the DNC’s role under the Trump administration.”
According to CNN, New Hampshire Democratic Party Chairman Raymond Buckley dropped out of the race last week, taking the number of candidates down to six from seven. Buckley threw his support behind Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN). In addition to Ellison, the other candidates are former Obama Labor Secretary Tom Perez, South Carolina Democratic Party Chairman Jaime Harrison; Mayor Pete Buttigieg of South Bend, Indiana; Idaho Democratic Party Executive Director Sally Boynton-Brown; and television commentator Jehmu Greene.
The new chair will be voted on and announced on Saturday, February 25. The winner will take over from interim leader Donna Brazile, who stepped in for Debbie Wasserman-Schultz after she resigned in July following the release of a series of damaging WikiLeaks emails that showed her and the Democratic Establishment colluding against Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) to rig the primary for Hillary Clinton.
Ellison and Perez are considered the leading candidates for the DNC chair position. Ellison has attracted the support of Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), while Perez has received endorsements from former Vice President Joe Biden, Virginia Gov. Richard “Terry” McAuliffe and Colorado Gov. John Wright Hickenlooper among others.”
I am SO cheering for Keith Ellison to win this race which will be decided this weekend. And boy howdy am I looking forward to the results. This is the ultimate decider of the future for the Democrat Party. If Rep. Keith Ellison becomes the new chairman, it will have severe and potentially irreparable damage for the Democrats.
There is no way you can convince me, or any sane person, that Keith Ellison as the new chairman of the DNC can go and restore the “blue wall” of the Democrats in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Wisconsin, Michigan. And don’t forget that Trump was really close to winning in Minnesota, Ellison’s home state. As we say down South, “that dawg don’t hunt.”
The election of Keith Ellison would confirm that the far left has taken over the Democrat Party, and it will be a Party relegated to a very defined area: New York City, east coast urban centers, Massachusetts, California (mainly Los Angeles, Hollywood, and San Francisco), the west coast of Portland, Oregon, Seattle, Washington, and Chicago.
The messaging from a Chairman Ellison will be very narrow and it will be interesting to see what happens with the liberal progressive Jewish community. Needless to say, Israeli Jews would not EVER accept a Keith Ellison DNC Chairman, therefore the chasm between American and Israeli Jews will grow. But, let’s be honest, whomever George Soros wants to win is the frontrunner, since he’s bankrolling every leftist think tank and protesting organization out there.
On the other hand, the Democrat establishment is on life support — especially after the crushing defeat of the one they manipulated the system to nominate, Hillary Clinton. Former Obama Secretary of Labor, Thomas Perez, is also a far left ideologue — just look at what he promoted while during his tenure. However, he’s not even whacked enough to appease the far left of the Democrat Party, the new masters.
Could there be some internal wrangling going on to undermine Ellison and elevate Perez? Oh yeah, but those revelations were the reason why Wasserman-Schultz was dethroned as DNC Chairman. And Donna Brazille as interim didn’t have a great showing when we learned of her collusion with CNN over debate interview questions.
Can Perez regain a semblance of respectability and integrity for the DNC? Not if he’s seen as the “establishment” choice. Here’s the danger of selecting Thomas Perez as DNC Chairman: the progressive socialist left wing will go crazy. This could mean the grassroots base of the left will abandon the DNC, unless Perez has gone and assumed the position before the throne of Soros, Buffet, Steyer, and Bezos.
Perez could be seen as the fella who can galvanize a greater contingent of Hispanic support to the Democrat Party, especially as the message continues to be President Trump’s xenophobia and such.
Ellison is a dangerous choice for the DNC Chairman. Perez is a somewhat safe choice, but will require much placating to the leftist base. The best choice for the Democrats to be their chairman is the mayor of South Bend Indiana, Pete Buttligieg.
Here’s a fella that comes from the Rust Belt — not a part of the DC cartel, not linked to any Democrat Party corruption, and certainly doesn’t have an abhorrent record of miscues or policy faux pas like Ellison and Perez. Buttligieg is a former Navy Reserve officer with deployments into the combat zones. He’s a successful mayor in a Red State, Indiana, and he’s openly gay.
However, here is what hurts the young 30-something mayor: he ain’t edgy enough for the leftist base, even though former DNC Chairman Howard Dean has endorsed him. But, if the recent House Democrat leadership election is any indicator, where Rep. Tim Ryan (D-Ohio) challenged Nancy Pelosi and lost, Buttligieg doesn’t have a chance.
The Democrat Party doesn’t believe they have an issue, it’s everyone else’s, and therefore, just as the Times op-ed stated, “Move left Democrats.” They fail to realize that’s what has resulted in their electoral defeats. The Democrats were brilliant in that they ran the ultimate identity politician, Barack Obama, who possessed immense charisma, and could make you feel great about being lied to.
Hillary Clinton was just a plain liar, with no charisma, completely unlikeable, and the Democrats, the left, had no message. Unlike previous GOP presidential nominees, McCain and Romney, the left ran into a buzz saw, someone who didn’t retract, he attacked, and took on every single aspect of the left’s artillery barrage.
Sure, the left now believes they have three charismatic leaders in Senators Sanders, Warren, and Booker, but they cannot connect with real America. And so as the DNC meets in Atlanta, they find themselves in a dilemma of their own making. They refuse to accept their loss, and believe only a harder turn left will rectify their failures. A message of protecting criminal illegal aliens and using disparaging, denigrating, and demeaning terms to characterize those who do not agree with them is not a winning formula. More taxes and divisive class warfare will not restore our economy…and embracing militant Islamic jihadism is not a path to victory. Hey, you notice that no one in the current Trump administration says ISIL?
I’ll be watching this race, and yep, pulling for ol’ Keith Ellison to win and become the new chairman of the DNC. It would certifiably prove that the Democrat Party is a special kind of stupid. And if Einstein were alive, he would declare they are indeed the pure definition of insanity.
